Common Home Addition Questions
Still have a question? Call Bryant Builder at (831) 713-0187 and we will talk it through with you.
How much does a home addition cost?
Size and type drive it. An extra bathroom or second kitchen costs more than a bedroom of the same floor area, because it brings plumbing, ventilation and electrical work into a room that had none. How the addition joins your existing structure matters too, since a harder connection takes more work to build. Finish level is the part you can dial up or down. We give you a detailed, no obligation quote after the consultation.
How long does a home addition take from start to finish?
There is no standard length for a home addition, because the size and type set it, along with how it joins your existing structure. A single room is a different job from one that brings plumbing and ventilation into a space that had none. Bring your project to the free consultation and we will go through what yours involves.
Do you take care of the permits and approvals, or is that on me?
That part is ours. In design and planning we create the detailed design and plan, then file and follow the permits and approvals so you are not tracking paperwork. What we need from you is your sign off as the property owner and a decision on anything the review sends back. The approval itself rests with the reviewing agency, so our job is to keep that application moving and keep you posted.
We need more space but are not sure what kind of addition makes sense. Can you help us decide?
Yes. Bring that question to the initial consultation, where we go through your goals for the addition and explore design options with you. People add space for different reasons: a growing family, a dedicated workspace, or room to entertain, and that usually points to the kind of addition. It might be an extra bathroom, a second kitchen for holidays and large gatherings, or a single room addition such as a bedroom or home office.
Do you build home additions outside Watsonville?
Yes. We are based in Watsonville and build additions there, in Aptos, Santa Cruz, Monterey and the surrounding areas. If you are not sure whether your street is covered, call us at (831) 713-0187 or fill out the form on this page and we will call you back to talk about your project.
How do you keep the addition from looking tacked on?
Blending is decided before anything is built, and you are part of it. You see the detailed design and plan before construction starts. Material selection is where flooring and fixtures get matched to your home's style. Before the project is called complete we do a final walkthrough with you. Our portfolio of completed additions is on the site, so you can judge the result on finished jobs rather than on a claim.
